Hot Weather Training When training in summer it is very important to keep your fluid levels up. Click on this link to download a copy of the Drink Up Information sheet from SMARTPLAY outlining some great hydration tips. This sheet has already been issued to all KKC Students in their Karate Syllabus/Manual. Some students are wearing t-shirts under their gi’s, whilst this is acceptable in cooler weather I do not recommend this on hot days, as the gi is designed to keep the body cool by allowing air to flow between the uniform and the skin therefore acting as a personal cooling system. Adult male & young male students should wear nothing under their gi top, adult female and young girls should wear a crop top/sports bra (eg gym top) under their gi top or a thin singlet. For modesty purposes and if a child is not comfortable without an undergarment under their gi top then a thin singlet is a best option in warmer weather. It is imperative that all students bring a bottle of cold water as cooled water also helps to keep body temperatures down. Tap water is fine for rehydration. Also ensure you are well hydrated prior to attending class. I look forward to seeing you all next week. Kind Regards Senpai Jenny |
