Osu Karateka and Families, We are now back in full swing at KKC Karate for 2017, and what better way to start the year than to attend the annual IFKKA Camp, this event was AWESOME!!!!!!.
What is your goal for 2017? Those of you who have already attended classes this year, know I have been asking all the students what their karate goal is for 2017, what is yours? Is it to be fitter, be better at kata or kumite, enter a tournament or achieve a higher grade? It might be one or all of what I have mentioned. Or your goal could be something else altogether! But above all practise is a key to achieving these goals, but write it down and stick to it. Without goals it is hard to progress, if you are just doing karate because mum and dad say you should and you don’t enjoy it, then maybe you should look at another activity. How do you act in the dojo are you a future black belt? Do you act like one? Martial Arts is not like football, tennis, netball or any other sport you do. When you join a martial arts school joining more than a club to learn a sport, be sure you understand this, there is etiquette around how we behave in and outside of the dojo. Click here to view dojo etiquette, be sure to read your student manual it might surprise some of you what you will find in there, understand what is expected of you. |

IFKKA Annual Summer Karate Camp
Friday 27th to Sunday 29th January. Well what can I say but AWESOME!!!!!!. If you weren’t there you have missed an amazing event. Such great training led by Shihan David Pickthall from the UK. He is a master! We also trained alongside other Kyokushin Organisations who are all exceptional karateka, it was a privilege and honour to train with. Don’t miss this event next year. I would like to thank all those from KKC Karate who helped make this a success, Anthony Zamattia for the use of your truck to transport the mats (and your portable fridge), set up and pack up with Scott Harris and Paul Morcos. To Casey and Chris Mardoquio for volunteering your Saturday and to Marianne & Paul Morcos for giving up your Sunday to ensure we were all fed, thank you as I really appreciate you giving up your time to help out.
